Gov. Andy Beshear line-item vetoed language in the state budget bill he said could limit his flexibility to deal with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. He said in a press release he did not veto any specific appropriations.
Teacher will not get the $2,000 raises the Democratic governor had proposed in his budget in January and on which he campaigned last year.
With two working days left in the 2020 legislative session, the Kentucky General Assembly will reconvene tomorrow and Wednesday, when they could take up he governor’s vetoes. Lawmakers can override and all of the vetoes with a majority vote.
The General Assembly must adjourn sine die no later than April 15.
