Auditor finds issues at Leslie sheriff dept.

Kentucky state Auditor Mike Harmon’s office released a June 13 audit report that found problems with the way the Leslie County Sheriff’s Department handled auto inspection fees.

The state-required audit found the sheriff’s office did not issue receipts for all auto inspections, and a deputy sheriff was found to have taken compensation from a third party while performing his official duties.

Harmon’s office said this not the first time this has happened. Read the auditor’s report here.
