The closest contest on Tuesdays ballot is the Democratic gubernatorial race between state House Minority Leader Rocky Adkins, Attorney General Andy Beshear and Lexington businessman Adam Edelen. Of course, the real poll is that of the voters on Election Day, but a down-ballot Democratic campaign shared some numbers from its polling with The Kentucky Gazette.
The poll, conducted of likely Democratic voters and released May 13, found 93 percent of those who responded recognized Beshear’s name. Around 50 percent knew Adkins, and 28 percent knew Edelen.
That being said, Beshear also had the highest “negatives,” with 28 percent of the poll’s respondents saying they held a negative view of Beshear, and 43 percent saying they had a positive view of him.
Adkins’ negatives were 13 percent and his positives were 15 percent. Edelen’s negatives were 23 percent and his positives were 11 percent.
Geoff Young, of Lexington, and Josh French, of Elizabethtown, also are running as a gubernatorial slate. Young’s name was not included in the polling.
